You can earn up to 2.50% with Connexus Credit Union Step-Up CDs. You have to commit to two years for the 2.00% or 3 years for the 2.50%. You can see their regular CD rates here deposit rates but you need to call or email them to request these special step-up CDs. The step-up option allows a one-time chance to bump up your CD’s rate if the Credit Union’s rates increase during the term of the certificate (which there is no guarantee Connexus will continue to keep their CD rates competitive). You won’t find the 2.00% or the 2.50% rates listed on the credit union’s website, you can call or email them to confirm their current rates. The rates I was given are current as of 3/23/2010. Don’t worry about not being able to join Connexus, according to their About Us page, their membership is “Available to All” by first becoming a member of their Connexus Association (which is quite easy – just make a charitable donation of $5).
